Digital Costume
- Day of the Dead -

This digital costume is an interactive facemask inspired by the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead. The festivities begin from Oct 31st through Nov 2nd, where families and friends gather around to commemorate their loved ones by celebrating their life and not their death. That is why they use flowers and vibrant colors as symbols of life! One of the flowers used the most is the Marigold orange flowers. This flower only flourishes after the rainy season in Mexico (from May to October), which is why everyone buys them for the festivities. The petals are used to form a path, as shown in the images below, from the house to the altar of the dead so their spirits can find their way.
I wanted to emphasize the vibrant flowers, placing them in the eyes and the crown of the head. The flowers also rotate, making the move seamless and reflecting the user’s interaction.
